Garden Hedge
Trimmers UK
When your
garden has a hedge the summer months cause these to grow very
quickly, so they need trimming back at least once a month so they keep
their shape and and even growth is promoted.
Compared to using a set of hand shears a powered hedge trimmer can save
you hours of hard work, making the job of maintaining your hedges a
relatively easy one. |

Garden Hedge Trimmer
Buying Tips
- Weight: The size
of the cutting blade influences the final weight of the machine. Buy a
hedge trimmer that you feel comfortable holding for long periods of
time at acute angles
- Blade Type: The
greater the blade length, the greater area of hedge you can cut in a
shorter time. Blade lengths range from 14 to 30 inches, while blade
widths are measured as the distance between teeth and effect the
maximum cutting thickness e.g. 30mm width means it can cut thicknesses
up to 30mm
- Power: There
are 3 main ways to power your garden hedge trimmer.
- The
first is
the petrol hedge trimmer, they're very portable and you don't have to
worry about cutting
through a mains lead. However, they are usually heavier, more noisy and
emit fumes compared to other models
- For a cleaner
light weight option there are electric hedge trimmers, ready to use at
the flick of a switch. They are restricted by the length of the power
cable, which can also be a danger if cut through
- Battery Hedge
Trimmers. Highly portable with no power cord to chop through. Not as
powerful
as a petrol hedge trimmer, and you do need to ensure
batteries are fully charged before use.
