Craftsman Riding Mower?
We have the Craftsman 19 HP 42 inch deck lawn tractor. We bought it several years ago. The problem I am having is, I cannot seem to find any replacement parts. The tractor needs a neat seat, or a seat cover and also a new battery. Does anyone know a website or a store I can go to, to purchase these items? The model number is 27518. I would gladly appreciate it.
Both of these items are easily replaceable with aftermarket parts. You can find a battery at most any auto parts store. If you are in an area that has Walmart stores, they carry batteries. Mower seats are easily found also. Check out www.northerntool for the replacement seats. They have a large inventory. You will pay more if you order from Sears that sell Craftman's brands. Good luck.

The Makita mitre saw comes in a variety and models, each having its own specialized, built in features to help it to deal with the demands of most types of sawing jobs. Some are fixed types, others sliding, to perform a wider cut, my favourite among them, being the compound sliding mitre saw.
The fact that it has the ability to slide backwards and forwards gives the saw the ability to cut pieces of timber up to, and above if you give it a bit of tilt, twelve inches wide. The word compound meaning, that it can cut two different angles at the same time; this is indispensable when engaged in some types of jobs, such as roof framing, where a variety of different angles in the same piece of timber can be called for.
When these were done by hand back in the 'good old days', you remember them? I don't know how they used to get through the work that they did, in the time they had; they didn't do a bad job either. It's a good idea to try and think of your Makita drop saw as you would your car; it can get you from A to B a lot quicker than if you were on foot and you don't arrive at your destination feeling half as buggered. It's the same kind of feeling when you're working with your mitre saw. You complete the job a lot quicker, and when you've done it you feel like you want to do it all over again.
This versatile tool comes with additional features such as a dust bag to keep the work area clean and sawdust out of your lungs. Never forget though, that you should always wear a dust mask and goggles as routine, a bit like putting your seat belt on before taking off in the car. You also get a table extension with some models; this is great if you're going to be handling the longer cuts of timber. A vertical clamp is usually standard fare, which is handy as some smooth timbers have the habit of sliding on a smooth table when you're performing your angle cuts. This safety feature helps to keep the work well clamped and enables you to keep your dainty little fingers well clear of the blade.
Another nifty feature would have to be the smooth start electronics. This is used by Hitachi, Dewalt and Makita on all of their mitre saws. It's a pity other brand names don't all take a leaf out of their book. The result of this feature is the smoothness that the blade exhibits as it revs up to its cutting speed. It's goodbye to that annoying jerk of the handle that sends a shock half way up your arm, every time you squeeze the trigger.
The features built into these types of these saws are improving all the time giving them more power than you'll ever need, unless you're going to cut through a railway sleeper, and making them much safer to work with. They're becoming lighter too, making them very portable, which is handy if you are moving from one job site to another. As for the life of the tools, with its ball bearing construction, and rugged build, given the proper care and attention, it's probably going to last you a lifetime; Well at least, most of your working life.
