Do I need a Pond Filter for an understocked fish pond?
I have 5 Small (4inch) Comet Goldfish in a 350Gal Pond. I have strong a water pump, about 7 large Water Hyacinth and a good amount of underwater oxygenators. I recently added an ammonia & nitrate eating bacteria solution to the water.
Will I still need a Bio Filter to keep the pond healthy?
You'll need some sort of a filter to filter out the sludge and algae that will form. Bacteria is awesome for your pond.
You can build your own biofilter using a rubbermaid container, some tubing and lava rock - just be sure you rinse the lava rock good before using it the first time.

There may be other different kinds of animals depending on where the pond is located. Not only are the animals crucial for a healthy pond habitat but the plant life is one of the most integral sources of life here. Most plants that grow near ponds are essential to the fish and other aquatic life as well as land animals. The plants and animals have a give and take relationship that is part of the environment that makes up a pond.
Maintaining the environment of a particular pond or lake is essential to the survival of the said body of water. The pond environment is actually a delicate balance of animals, plants and the environment that depend on each other for upkeep and survival. Once a main character in the habitat is eliminated, the others are sure to follow. Ponds habitat loss can trigger a chain of events that can affect the surrounding areas. Many life forms depend on a single pond for their very existence. Once a pond is maintained well enough the pond habitat is kept at a balance that makes for healthy living.
