what is your preferred greenhouse construction?
what covering material, frame structure, ventilation system etc
have you worked in/with that you liked
what made it great
do you have a dream greenhouse?
cool idea medically necessary greenhouse
wonder if i could get one as needed for my back rehab hahaha
Well, I'm looking into greenhouses, so just learning, but of the ones I've looked at, the hard, permanent double walled plastic seems to be the best material, especially since I'm in an area that could potentially get heavy snowfall at some time. I would personally prefer this as well, as the initial investment, though more costly than a plastic covering -- the sheet kind -- would eventually pay for itself and save money. It will also provide a more constant temperature, and make it easier to do so. I would like the roof to have panels that could be opened, either manually or via thermostat controls. Cooling panels on one end with exhaust fans on the other are ideal too. From what I've seen, heat and just air circulation via large tubes with holes running the length of the greenhouse are very effective and efficient. Otherwise, heaters in different areas of the greenhouse on thermostats work well too. These would be ideal if you would like to partition off areas for various crops and climatic needs. A concrete floor is ideal if you have the money to invest in it. This minimizes if not eliminates critters from digging under a plastic wall.

Monarch of the house plant world, nothing can rival the amaryllis for size of bloom and brilliance of color at a time when snow covers the ground and temperatures are well below freezing in most parts of the country.
You can buy amaryllis bulbs that have been 'cold-treated' so that they'll flower on schedule during the holidays. Choose a bulb that is large and has many live roots. Place it on top of a water-filled jar. This allows roots (not bulb) to trail in water. Let roots soak up extra moisture in this way four or five days before potting.
The length of time it takes for blooms to appear varies somewhat. As a general rule, you can expect to see fat buds begin to open in four to six weeks after potting.
Although the price of the choicest bulbs may seem high initially, you are purchasing a plant that can with proper care go on blooming each winter for years to come.
Warmth, Food, And Water Requirements
As natives of tropical climates, amaryllis like warmth and should be given a spot in your sunniest window until flowers begin to open. The bloom lasts longer if you then
move the plant to medium light.
Because the plants grow so rapidly, you sometimes feel that you can actually see those big stems push upward they need water often enough to keep the soil constantly moist. Once flower scapes appear, it's wise to begin giving the plant a weak feeding of fertilizer once a week, thus helping the bulb to begin forming next year's flower buds.
