There are a number of reasons for buying a petrol lawn mower over an electric one, despite the price tag. There is no cable to worry about with petrol lawn mowers, allowing greater freedom and eliminating the risk of cutting the cable by accident. They are much harder wearing and a good one should last for a good number of years before needing any intensive maintenance or replacing. They can even be used in the wet, which can be a godsend depending on your local weather. Mainly though is their power. If you have a large lawn to cut, especially if the grass has been left to grow for some time, the extra power makes a potentially irksome task relatively easy.

There are a huge variety of different makes and models available, some brands well known, trusted and respected, others less so. Prices vary considerably depending on the mower's intended use, quality of design and workmanship and what extras or features are included. The bulk of the models available are intended for use in small to large gardens, as this accounts for the majority of consumers and many professional gardeners.

If you have a small to large garden and want to upgrade your electric lawn mower, the Draper Expert push petrol lawn mower is a popular choice from a trusted brand name. At a very reasonable price tag of under £250, you get the power of a 3.5 horse power four stroke engine that can run on unleaded petrol, reducing the running costs while still doing a great job of keeping your lawn under control.

If you can afford it the Honda HRX426 self propelled petrol lawn mower can make even lighter work of the lawn. For a somewhat less reasonable sounding price tag of just under £700, you get a mighty 5.5 horse power four stroke engine, and the peace of mind that comes with a seven year guarantee. Not to mention the absolute confidence in a machine designed by such a well known quality brand.
