Kitchen greenhouse windows are a must these days and knowing how to install them is just as vital. I have tried to show you a few vital steps, which I hope you will find very useful. If you can't then simply hire a contractor to do the job for you - this way you will be saving yourself from a lot of stress and probably money.
Start by removing the old window, if it's a sliding glass panel it's easy, lift up and pull the bottom out. Remove the panel then the center break. Lift out the panels, now remove the exterior trim. With a utility knife cut any paint away. Score the rest of the trim, this will give you access to the aluminum window frame. Loosen the frame; when the frame breaks free, pull it from the outside. Remove old window framing, smooth off the sides and ledge.
The kitchen greenhouse window will have a nailing flange to hold it up against the house. The flange will attach to the edge of a 2x4 surrounding the window opening. A small piece of siding has to be cut away. If you need to build up the sill to accommodate the greenhouse, measure and do it with the nail gun. Nail a spacer to the inside top, now add your trim, and cut away the siding.
Insert flashing paper behind siding, overlap each section, fold paper away from window, and tape it. Spread a line of caulk around the edge of the opening to give a seal between the fin and frame. Lift the window into place; nail the fin into the frame of the house. Add another line of caulk and remove tape. Trim off excess paper with utility knife. Over the paper attach strips of wood; this gives a place to nail the trim. Put the trim on and another line of caulk around it. This is basically it on kitchen greenhouse windows replacement.
