UV Pond Filters
When it comes to reducing the build up of suspended algae an Ultra
Violet pond filter is the only real solution to effectively controlling
the problem. As well as spoiling the appearance of your fish pond,
algae blooms can cause problems for your fish and can nurture bacteria.
UV
Pond Filter Tips
- In order to save
money on running costs always correctly specify the wattage of the
Ultra Violet filter you need. At the same time ensure that the UV model
is powerful enough for the size of your fish
pond
What's
the Difference Between a UV Clarifier and a UV Steraliser?
Although the term UV Clarifier and UV Steraliser are often used to mean
the same thing there is a difference. A UV Steraliser kills water borne
bacteria and parasitic pathogens and is usually used in large
garden ponds that have higher levels of pathogens and other bacteria.
UV Steralizers
are usually fitted with higher powered Ultraviolet lamps
and are also capable of eliminating unwanted suspended algae.
A UV Pond Clarifier on the other hand does not kill pathogens, viruses
and
bacteria, its main purpose is to kill green planktonic algae. They're
usually used in small to medium ponds and bombard the algae so that the
cell walls break down and the algae clumps together, this is then
easily removed with a skimmer or a biological pond filter.
